To help those of you who have never been to the ‘ring before, and also to those who have, but didn’t find their way around much, we will be laying on the following for anyone interested on the Friday evening, with a possible repeat on Saturday after the parade-lap. What will happen is we will take a quick trip around the local area, showing you the best viewing places and also other useful things like where the Supermarket is (to buy food/beer), where there are restaurants for those who wish to use them, and where the Petrol-Station is (where to buy the all-important ring-map stickers!). There are many good places to view the action from but some of these are hard to find and none are well signposted. It is possible to get to most of these locations with just a short walk, but others (unfortunately some of the better ones) need a bit of a hike to get to, others, you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your car! This trip will last about an hour and there will be a very basic map in the Runners Private Area for you to download showing where these locations are, and how to get there. The locations we will be showing you include:-
(i) The First corner at the end of the old-pits, looking towards Halzenbach. (ii) Quiddelbach-hohe – this is on the first real straight. (iii) Adenaur-Forst - this is where everyone crashes!! (iv) Werseifen – A sharp downhill left. (v) Ex-Muhle/Breidscheid – A good spectator spot. (vi) Bergwerk - If its wet, lots of spinners here. (vii) Steilstreicke – Well worth the long walk. (viii) Karrussell – Again well worth the walk. (ix) Hohe-Acht – on the way to the above 2!! (x) Brunchen - almost an amphitheatre for spectators (xi) Pflantzgarten – fast cars get airborne here.
In addition, I hope to have good directions for how to find your way to Armberg (VERY tight right-hander at the end of a VERY fast straight), and also some places on the downhill from Adenaur-Forst to Werseifen. In travelling around the ‘ring you really only need to know about 6 or 7 roads that link the 3 main villages that the ‘ring is built around, these WILL all be marked clearly on the map as will any other places of interest. At ANY point in the weekend, if you want shown how to get to somewhere, then just ask, and we’ll try our best to show you how to get there. |
